Science Cafe – “Elections, Politics, and Science” video is now online!

Posted: December 13, 2012 in Uncategorized

On election night 2012, three leaders from the Seattle chapter of the Forum on Science Ethics and Policy (FOSEP) spoke at the Pacific Science Center and KCTS9’s monthly Science Cafe in Queen Anne. The presentations were recorded and are now available for viewing on the KCTS9 website. The night consisted of three short presentations with a question and answer session following each segment. Additional time after each segment was allotted for general discussion, watching the election results come in, and of course enjoying some tasty beverages from T.S. McHugh’s.

The three presentations were:

Corey Snelson, Ph.D. – Science for Policy and Policy for Science

Christopher Terai – Funding for Science and Technology Research

Abigail Schindler, Ph.D. (me!) – Communication and Advocacy by Scientists. Look for a shout-out to Stand with Science near the end of my talk. As I wrote in an earlier post, this group of science supporters are collecting signatures on a letter addressed to Congress urging members to “End Sequestration Research Cuts and Prioritize Science Funding.”
